Installation guide
To install Darkwrite, simply download the latest release from our downloads page and run the installer.
Windows
Run the downloaded .exe file and follow the installation instructions. Note: You may need to allow the installer to run in your security settings, as it is not signed with a trusted certificate yet.
Once the installation is complete, you can launch Darkwrite from the Start menu or desktop shortcut. If the app does not launch after a while, restart your PC and try launching again.
Linux
For Linux, we provide an AppImage file. To run it, simply make the file executable and run it. You can do this with the following commands in your terminal:
chmod +x Darkwrite.AppImage If you are on a Debian-based distribution, you can also install the .deb package using:
sudo dpkg -i Darkwrite.deb If you are on Arch Linux, there's an unofficial package available in the AUR. You can install it using an AUR helper like yay:
yay -S darkwrite-bin
Thanks to zxp19821005 for maintaining this package for years! We really appreciate it❤️
No other packaging options are available at the moment, but we are planning to provide Flatpak and Snap options soon. See the GitHub issue for updates on this.
macOS
Download the .dmg file and drag Darkwrite to your application folder. That's it!
Note: if you are downloading an older version of Darkwrite (before beta 1.1), you will need to take the app out of quarantine first, as versions prior to Beta 1.1.0 are not notarized.
